Yup - I'll admit it - I only could get to diamond ring and I was lost. Now if she wanted me to sing Lady Ga Ga...Kaitlyn has a clogged tear duct and looks like something out of a horror movie when she wakes up. We are applying a warm compress and it gets the icky out. I saw some interesting home remedies... got any that you know that work??

Here is what I found on the internet:
ReplyDeleteHow can I unblock my baby's tear ducts?
Fortunately, nothing has to be done, because leaving the eye alone isn't harmful. However, if the drainage bothers you, try the following. Applying warm, moist compresses over the eye and massaging the tear ducts can help open the tear duct. This has to be done several times a day until the baby grows big enough that his or her tear ducts enlarge on their own. If it is still a problem when the infant is over 9 months old, an opthalmologist can surgically open the blocked duct, but this is very rarely needed.

What a cute picture of mommy and Kaitlyn! I always made up my own words to the lullabys.

Both girls had blocked tear ducts...the pediatrician told us to use vaseline (or some other clean lubricant like Aquafor) and press gently along the inside of her eye alog the nose...as if you were squeezing icing out of a pastry bag. It's supposed to help it break through and keep it from getting infected and creating yucky green goop. Otherwise, it'll just clear up!
ReplyDeleteBTW - I googled the words to Hush Little Baby 2 years ago too! Along with about 12 other lullabyes. :-)
Warm washcloth to get the crusties out... It'll probably fix itself in a week or so.
ReplyDeleteCoop had a blocked tear duct for about 1 1/2 months. The doc just said warm compress whenever it got crusty. It will eventually clear itself out. Good luck:)
