1 Month Appointment today!

Kaitlyn had her 1 month appointment today and did really well.  She hardly woke up for most of it.  She is perfectly healthy and has no more follow up apointments from the NICU ordeal.  However, she is 10 lbs 8ish ounces and 22.5 inches long.  90th percential for both!  Where did this baby come from??

In other news, I signed up for a gym membership today.  I don't think I'll have to work on my arms :)

1 month Old Today!

Can you believe it's been a month already since Kaitlyn was born?  I can't even remember what life was like without her here.  She's been such a good baby and I have been so very lucky.  I even got 6 hours of continuous sleep two days ago!

I was in such bad shape this time a month ago-> I could barely walk, I had only seen my baby for 5 seconds let alone hold her, she was in NICU, I was nauseous and vomiting and I looked like I was in a fight with Mike Tyson I was so swollen -> But here I am a month later -> Still a bit sore but out and about. (I even got to go to a U2 concert last night!!)  I have a beautiful baby who is so very good and the best friends and family who are so very supportive and helpful.  I couldn't ask for anything more.

We had a blow out

Remember last night when I said she was all fresh and clean and smelled so good and would be that way for the next few minutes?  Well this morning we had a full on blow out.  A poopy diaper that went everywhere.  On her shirt, on her pants, on her arms, on me, everywhere.  I thought diapers these days were not supposed to leak?  When I went to change her, I just stared for a few seconds not even sure where to start.

Then I see this face after she is all clean and I smile back and it's totally worth it.  I'll take 100 blow outs for this face.

1st REAL bath

Today was Kaitlyn's first real bath.  It was so nice to strip her down completely and get her all scrubby.  Although she is screaming in this pic - she actually did really well and kinda relaxed by the end.  She liked the water just pouring over her.  She was NOT a fan when it was over and drying her off.  She screamed like I was torturing her.  Also - her hair seems to be lighter now that I really got to wash it(and I mean SCRUB).  Less black and more of a brown.  She smells sooo good.  This should last a good 10 minutes till the next feeding/poopy diaper.  Oh well.

Breaking News - Her cord fell off!

Ugh - Finally!!  I was ready to rip that thing off.  It was dangling by a string around 4 am this morning and it officially fell off just now.  I'm pretty sure she will have a fine looking innie.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

I took a little break from the ladybug today to catch up on some rest.  Grandpa sent this picture.  Looks like it was a hard day of baby-sitting over at the Caimi's.

Okay - So maybe I am a little sleep deprived

So...I just put salt on my cereal, put the cereal box in the fridge, and have little recollection of her 6:00 am feeding.

She's cute and SOOO worth it.  Oh - And she's smiling now.  Not sure if this is still gas smiles but it's right at me and when I'm talking to her.  I have pics to prove it.  Just need to get in gear to upload them...

Pic/New Milestone

Kara posted her professional pics of Kaitlyn.  I'm not goig to show them all just yet but here is one of my favs!!  More to come.  You can see Kara's other work here.

I took her to her first restaurant today!  We met up with my mom, Lynn, and Ashley.  She was pretty good but did fire-hose again in the bathroom(Sorry O'Conners!).  I'm definayely feeling more confident getting her out and about by myself.  Miss independent!

Ugh - I feel so bad!

Today(well yesterday) I trimmed her nails.  I was on #9 - pointer finger of her left hand and I nicked her.  She SCREAMED!  She also bled like crazy.  I put a mini bandaid on her and a mit but God do I feel bad.  When she's got a stump left - you can all blame me  :)

Kaitlyn got her close up yesterday

Yesterday Kaitlyn got a visit from Kara and George Danger.  Kara, being the super photographer that she is, took some super sweet shots of Kaitlyn.  I can't wait to see them!!!  Kaitlyn was mostly on good behavior but it was a little rocky in the beginning.  Anyway, I'll share them(With Kara's permission) when I get them but you can see Kara's work here:  http://www.bluemoonweddingphoto.com/

In other news, her eye is MUCH better and barely has any crusties.  She is also more alert after feedings and will just stare super bright eyed at who ever is holding her.

Okay - I'm back off to sleep (Yes - It's 4:15am in the morning)

Life is good

I just realized I'm getting more consecutive hours of sleep now than when I was pregnant.  I no longer have heart burn.  I can touch my toes, eat lunch meat, fit into small spaces, and have the most adorable baby in the world.

YAY!

2 weeks old

Today my little girl is 2 weeks old. I can't believe how fast time is going by already. Today was also very eventful for us. I took her out by myself to the park. I was soooo excited and really enjoyed my time. It's good for me to know I can do it and I can get out of the house. I was worried about carrying the car seat but I managed ok. This means I have sweet freedom now. YAY!!!

I have a video and pics to post. I'll get to them soon. I'm being lazy setting up the card reader.

It's 3:00am - Do you know where your bottle is?

Just asking.  She's already back sleeping - Just need to pump, clean , then back to sleep for mommy!

I learned my lesson!

Well... Today marks my first day of being peed on.  Not just a trickle - She full out launched like a fire hose on her clothes, changing pad, on the floor, and in my mouth as I was talking at the time.  I went into laughing hysterics and thankfully Kara was there to help clean up as I wasn't even sure where to start!  I thought only boys could fire hose?!?!  I learned my lesson though..Full on coverage at all times - No trusting!!!

Today was also Kaitlyn's first babysitting by Aunt Linda, Uncle Steve and cousin Ashley while we went food shopping.  Apparently they had a super eventful 30-45 minutes of watching her sleep.  She's awake now and probably will be for the next hour.  Any takers?

I had to google the lyrics to 'hush little baby'

Yup - I'll admit it - I only could get to diamond ring and I was lost.  Now if she wanted me to sing Lady Ga Ga...

Kaitlyn has a clogged tear duct and looks like something out of a horror movie when she wakes up.  We are applying a warm compress and it gets the icky out.  I saw some interesting home remedies... got any that you know that work??

Is there such a thing as postpartum euphoria?

Hi everyone!  Today was a really great day.  I got two very long naps and managed to go for two walks.  I can even manage the stairs pretty well now and did a load of laundry.  Things are GREAT!  She is still really good and I'm starting to be able to keep up with her eating schedule.  (Think more homemade less formula)  Also - The swaddleme is God's gift to mothers.  This is a fool proof swaddling blanket(or straight jacket for babies)  I just ordered two more!  (Thanks Kara!)

Check out the Caimi feet in the pic!  I used to have to dig these out of my ribs!

Where my comments at?

I know you guys are reading this - I can see the web stats.  What???  Too shy for comments?  I feel like I'm talking to myself  :)

I'm just waiting for the princess to wake up for some food, a diaper change, an outfit change(She's still in her PJ's) then off for a walk we go.  I'm going to try the sling out today since I can't get the stroller down the stairs.  My goal is to make it to the end of the street and back.  It looks SOOO nice out and I'm going stir crazy.  Never have I been trapped in the house this long.  EVER.

We're back in business

Internet is back up and I got some pictures up.  I want to put them in a nice album with thumbnails but I want to just get them up for now.

You can find them here:  Kaitlyn

So far she is an AMAZING baby and I can't complain at all.  She sleeps and eats really well and isn't fussy.  (I know - I just TOTALLY jinxed myself)

Today Grandma Caimi stopped by to help out a little around the house and Aunt Sue came over for dinner and a visit.  I'm feeling MUCH better too.

Time is just flying by.  How is it 10:30pm already?

Grrr... no Cable/No Internet

Sorry I haven't posted in two days - We lost our internet connection yesterday. As soon as we are back up - I'll get some pics up - ASAP! I have a million.

Yesterday was Kaitlyn's first Pediatrician appointment. She hasn't lost any weight so that's good and everything else checked out fine. We have to go back in a month as a precaution but she's looking really good.

We are starting to read her and what she wants now. She likes to be swaddled - TIGHT, She likes her binky to calm down but not while she's sleeping, and she likes to poop only in the freshest of fresh diapers which makes changing her a 2-3 diaper process.

She is starting to have more awake time now too and is usually up for 15-30 minutes after a feeding. I love having her follow my voice.

She had more visitors today and got to meet her cousin's Corinna and Nickolas and Aunt Dawn. Grandma and Grandpa Caimi also stopped by with Great Uncle Louis.

That's it for today. I'm hoping to get some fresh air tomorrow with a nice walk - I'm sooo looking forward to getting out of the house. Cross your fingers for the weather.
